Bill Geary

Bill Geary is a Senior Advisor to the Healthcare Practice of Red Cell Partners. He is a leading healthcare venture capital investor and board member of numerous organizations. He possesses  30 years of experience partnering with entrepreneurs and management teams, helping young companies build and scale.  He co-founded Flare Capital Partners in 2013, which now has approximately $1B under management and over 40 core health-tech and related healthcare services investments. He continues to serve Flare Capital in an Executive Partner advisory role.  Prior to Flare Capital, Bill was at North Bridge Venture Partners, leading the firm’s healthcare investment practice since its inception for 20 years. During his tenure, the firm managed approximately $3.5B across its technology areas of focus and over 150 total investments.

Bill has served on the Boards of Directors of over 20 private and publicly held companies with a deep focus primarily on healthcare AI, enterprise SaaS, services, and tech-enabled services providers with solutions for pharmaceutical companies, healthcare systems, insurance companies, employers, and consumers.  Specifically, those Boards include companies in workflow automation and AI, clinical decision support, cybersecurity, analytics, cloud software, insurtech, care delivery, clinical trials optimization, pharmaceutical services, revenue cycle, payment integrity, value-based care, alternative payment models, and novel risk-bearing entities.  Bill has been on the executive, compensation and audit committees of most of the boards he’s served on.

Bill has strong expertise working with company teams on talent management, scaling, financial operations, strategy, M&A, resource optimization, and helping drive profitable business models.

Prior to the venture capital business, he served as CFO of a venture-backed engineering software company which subsequently went public and was later acquired and as supervisor of financial analysis at a former client conglomerate manufacturer which went private in an industry-leading LBO. He started his career as a CPA at a large international accounting firm.

Bill holds a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from Harvard and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Boston College.
