Healthcare Practice

X-rays, first discovered in 1895, represented a transformative breakthrough that ushered in the era of modern medicine, paving the way for MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging techniques in use today. Pictured here, a doctor and nurse read X-rays, circa 1959.

Cyber Practice

Founded in response to the launch of the Sputnik satellite by the Soviet Union and fears of a surprise nuclear attack, the Advanced Research Projects Agency – a branch of the U.S. Defense Department – created ARPANET in the late 1960s to link computers at Pentagon-funded research institutions. ARPANET would become the forerunner to the Internet.
